Superstitions of the Roman Catholics

Before I go any further in this post, I would like to ask you to read the following important note that explains the difference between Roman Catholicism and the catholic Church of Christ, and that you can find on this page of this site:

Note: By “Roman Catholicism” we do not mean the catholic (or universal) Church which is the whole visible Church of Christ which is one and which is represented by the different local churches (see the Creed,) but we mean the heretical non-biblical teachings of the system of the Vatican or Rome (and systems similar to Rome) that insists on refusing any reformation according to the Word of God, thus being in apostasy. Many local churches of the visible Church follow Rome in this error and thus are in apostasy. Even many local churches that are called Protestant are in similar and worse apostasy, therefore we refuse to be falsely accused to be Protestants just for the fact of opposing the heretical teachings of Rome. A picture of these heretical teachings is found in the heretical teaching of the Nicolaitans, and the Lord calls such people to repentance or else He will make war against them with His Word:

“So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.
‘Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.”
(Revelation 2:15-16)

Roman Catholicism is one of the most superstitious religions of the world and it encourages superstitions, because it has put the Word of God (the Bible) aside, and has chosen to follow human teachers.

You certainly have received many superstitious emails before. Most of the religious superstitious emails are based on Roman Catholic vanities that are based on their human corrupted teachings.

Recently, an email has been circulating that begins by the following superstitious ideas (I translate from the Arabic) –

This email arrived to the president of the nation of Argentina who deleted it immediately without reading it, thinking that it is a junk mail; after eight days, his son died. Another person got this email and he sent it to many of his acquaintances; after some days, he won the lottery. Another person called Alberto Martini, got the same email with picture; he gave it to his secretary and asked her to send many copies of the picture to his friends, but she forgot to send it to many; she lost her job, and he lost his family. This picture is one of the miracles and it is blessed. Send it to ten persons.

Many superstitions already in the introduction… Indeed, this email is a junk mail, and I don’t see why should anyone fear to call it as such. We all know that lottery is a gambling game, and the Bible teaches against gambling. So if this email is encouraging you to gamble, then it is from a satanic spirit. And I don’t see where is the miracle in this picture, and I don’t understand what it means that a picture is “blessed”. God clearly talks against worshipping pictures, and these people call pictures blessed and sacred… And the worse is that they want to use the sacred for a commercial purpose by asking you to send it to people…

This is clearly an email made with an evil spirit trying to mislead people and make them blind to the truth of the Word of God.

Let’s see the entire email, and then we discuss it in detail:

guildaThese are the pics of Guilda Ayoub, a 16-year-old girl from ‘Imar’ village situated near Zgharta, North Lebanon.
Guilda watched the film of ‘Passion of the Christ ‘ on Good Friday on 06/04/2007,
and before she went to sleep she was telling her mum that she doesn’t believe that Jesus has passed through all that pain.
That night she dreamt of having a cross on her hand but the next day she woke up and did not have anything on her hand.
She went to school and as she was telling her friend about it, she felt something pulling her hand backwards and putting it on the wall behind her.
Her hand was stuck on the wall and no one could take it off.. After a while when she took off her hand,
a cross was printed on her hand with a wound in the middle as if there was a nail taken out of her.
Blood tests were done for her and the blood that was coming out of her hand has no blood group.
Also there was oil on her hand..
Saint Charbel has talked to her many times and he was giving her messages.
One of the messages was about Lebanon but he asked her not to say it until he tells her.
She still has pain in her hand and it is still bleeding from time to time.

This may very simply be a big lie. But I will study this story by supposing that it is true, and that these things really happened.

God says:

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;
that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,
and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false,
in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.
But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.”
(2 Thessalonians 2:7-13)

The biggest false assumption behind such stories as the one that we read in this email is that everything supernatural comes from God. But that’s not true. Satan is a supernatural creature, and he is evil; he may do many supernatural signs and wonders to deceive people. As we see in the verses above, Satan can do powerful signs and false wonders so that those who hate the truth of the Bible may be deceived by them. All those who believe such stories and are amazed by these signs, prove to be people who hate the truth of God as it is clearly declared in the Bible. So if you are amazed by such signs and wonders, and you believe and follow such lies, you prove to be an enemy of God’s Word, because you hate His truth.

Another assumption is that all who experience such signs as the one that happened with Guilda are good people and that God is with them, because – as they think – signs only happen with those with whom God is pleased. But as we see in the above quoted verses, many signs happen with those who are led by the spirit of the anti-Christ, with those who hate the truth and follow Satan in his lies. So don’t assume that signs only happen with true believers. That’s not true.

Now, you may ask: “Then how can we know what is the truth?” Jesus said in His prayer to the Father: “Your word is truth.” (John 17:17) Is there anything clearer than this? And yet, people search in the darkness, and believe such lies as the one displayed in this email, and never want to read the Bible to see what God says. As we read in the above quoted verses, those who will be deceived by such lies are people who hate the truth.

What happened with Guilda is the deception of wickedness, as the above quoted verses say. So don’t be deceived. And if Guilda will read these lines, I wish to warn her: don’t give place to Satan to work with your body for deception, or else a time will come when you will be controlled by him. Make sure to repent quickly, and to listen to what God says in His Word, and you will be saved from sin and from all what is happening with you.

Biblically, signs were given to approve the genuineness of a messenger of God, and they had a clear meaning. For example, when Jesus healed the sick, that was a sign that Jesus bore our sicknesses, and that He heals us from the true sickness of our spirit which is sin. There are many other examples of signs in the Bible, and all the signs had a meaning. While the sign that happened with Guilda has no meaning other than deception and a show to lead people to false worships as we will see later in this post. Jesus clearly REFUSED to do such signs, and so He will not be doing such signs now. Read this:

“Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”
But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet;
for just as JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
(Matthew 12:38-40)

Jesus REFUSED to give such signs as the one that happened to Guilda. So this sign did not come from Jesus. This sign is from Satan as we have seen above. Without forgetting that this sign has no good and biblical meaning, and it is even against the Bible. In the Bible God forbids making such signs on your body, so He will not do it Himself to Guilda. Read:

“You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD.” (Leviticus 19:28)

God does not do such things.

This same wickedness is found in many similar signs done by Satan, as you can see in the picture on the left. In this picture, you see a person who claims that St. Charbel made that tattoo on his arm…

Look at the assumption in the blood group incidence. The email says that the blood that was coming from the place of the nail had no blood group. This is usually heard from Roman Catholics, as they think that Jesus had no blood group, it seems… We wish to tell them that Jesus was totally human. Let them not be deceived by superstitious ideas.

And there was also oil on her hand… Can anyone tell me what this means?? This means nothing at all. Satan has the power to put oil on your hand. That’s not something impossible. But the impossible for Satan is to give you the true Oil, the Holy Spirit in your heart!! By deceiving you with material oil, Satan succeeds to turn your eye from Jesus and His Spirit.

And then the email says that a dead man called St. Charbel has talked to Guilda… Once again, this is something against the Will of God. God hates spiritism, and He doesn’t want you to communicate with the dead. Here is what He says about this:

“Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.” (Leviticus 19:31)

You should not be defiled by such things.

“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.”
(Deuteronomy 18:10-11)

You should not call up the dead or communicate with them.

“When they say to you, “Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?” (Isaiah 8:19)

These people consult a dead St. Charbel to tell them things about the living, although the Bible clearly forbids that!! That’s because they have a bad spirit leading their thoughts, because they have refused the Word of God:

“Then the spirit of the Egyptians will be demoralized within them;
And I will confound their strategy,
So that they will resort to idols and ghosts of the dead
And to mediums and spiritists.”
(Isaiah 19:3)

Now you know why they resort to the ghosts of the dead.

But did you even understand why this St. Charbel suddenly jumped into this story?? What does all this have to do with him?? The fact is that the true biblical Jesus does not allow superstitions to be built on Him, so they go to spirits of dead people who cannot defend themselves or approve and disprove what they say. It’s easy to build superstitions around the names of the dead.

It is also worthy to be noted that this St. Charbel gave this girl a SECRET message… That’s like the beliefs of the Gnostics who say that they have some secret knowledge about some secret truths. Friends, don’t be deceived: God has revealed to us ALL what we need to know in the Bible. There is no new revelation now. What that St. Charbel told Guilda is what Satan wants to tell people, i.e. to forget about the blood of Jesus Christ and to turn to the dead and to superstitions. Satan knows very well that there is no other way of Salvation than Jesus Christ. So if he succeeds to turn your eyes away from the truth of Jesus Christ, that’s all what he wants; he doesn’t care if you are very religious; that doesn’t save you. Only the blood of Jesus Christ saves you and cleanses you from your sins.

We may discuss this post more in the comments.

Grace be with you!

Even if this really happened, what does it prove exactly? What exactly is the meaning behind it? I just don’t see God in this at all.

  2. elise says:

Thank you for this post, many unclear things i understand now . Jesus knows what and how to tell us the truth in the Bible but we usually refuse to understand the true meanings just because we are happy the way we live on earth. so we try to understand the Bible on our way not to change our life.

His word is so powerful and the answer of everything is clearly listed in the Bible
As for those kind of miracles, a lot of people wont believe you if you tell them that the miracles are satan’s action.
The verses from the Bible are really clear and i most liked

“You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD.” (Leviticus 19:28)
Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.”

“So if he succeeds to turn your eyes away from the truth of Jesus Christ, that’s all what he wants; he doesn’t care if you are very religious; that doesn’t save you”

can you please elaborate this more ???do you mean that if someone is very religious if he doesn’t get involve with him because that person blvs well
or you mean that whether he is very religious or not , santan wants to turn our eyes from the truth ?

  3. Disciple of Jesus Christ says:

    Peace be with you!

Dear elise, your comment is interesting and beautiful. Indeed, the Word of God is clear and deep, and it tells us everything we need to know about God and about our relationship with Him, i.e. about the way of truth.

Let me elaborate concerning the blood of Jesus and the work of Satan to turn the eyes of people from this blood to superstitious beliefs and practices.

From the beginning of this world, Satan wanted to deceive people to turn them from God. From the first time in the garden of Eden, Satan wanted to make Eve turn her ear from the words of God to make her believe Satan’s interpretation of those words. God had planted a garden, the garden of Eden, with every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food. In the midst of that garden, there was the tree of life, and there was also the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (see Genesis 2:8-9.) God had told man clearly: “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” (Genesis 2:16-17) You see how much the Commandment of God was clear; there is no need for interpretation. God clearly said that man could eat from any tree of the garden freely. And the Word of God is also clear concerning the tree of the knowledge of good and evil: man shall not eat from it, for the day that he eats from it he will what?… he will surely die. The Word of God is very clear. Now, let’s see the interpretation of Satan that he gave to Eve:

“Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” (Genesis 3:1)

What’s wrong in this sentence? From the first sight, a simple man would say: “Well, yes, that’s what God said!” But in fact, that’s not what God said. God didn’t say that man could not eat from any tree of the garden. We have seen that God said that man could eat freely from any tree of the garden, but he couldn’t eat only from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. So you see that the first tactic of Satan was to exaggerate the commandment of the Lord to make it look burdensome. Actually, even questioning the Word of God by saying “Indeed, has God said?” is wrong, and Eve must have told Satan about this error… Eve innocently corrected the error in Satan’s interpretation, but she made another mistake which in fact is the first mistake of humanity. Look what she said:

    “The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;
but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'”
    (Genesis 3:2-3)

Eve was right concerning the fact that they could eat from the trees of the garden, but she must have taken the words of the Lord more precisely, so that she could face the deception of Satan. You see that she was not precise concerning the points that I have put in bold above; she didn’t tell Satan clearly that God has said that they could eat from any tree of the garden freely. Being precise in quoting what God says is very important, and it protects us against the deceptions of Satan, and that’s what Jesus did indeed when He was tempted by Satan. But look at the bigger error of Eve: she said that God had told them not to even touch the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Please, tell me: Did God say anything like that?? Not at all! But after Eve did the mistake of not quoting the Word of God precisely, she also made an exaggeration by adding to the Word of God, just as Satan did. So here we see the first error of humanity which is adding on the Word of God.

What Eve did here helped in the tactic of Satan. Satan wanted to make Eve feel that she is frustrated and that God is forbidding her from having good things, and she helped him in that by doing an exaggeration on the Word of God and by not quoting His Word precisely. Look what was the next step in the tactic of Satan:

“The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die!” (Genesis 3:4)

    And he added:

“For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:5)

Misrepresentation of the loving Nature of God!

Eve didn’t quote the Word of God precisely; God said: “in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” (Genesis 2:17) God said that they would surely die, and Satan interprets that they surely will not die!!

You see which deceitful way Satan took to lead Eve into sin and disobedience to the Commandment of God. Satan didn’t come and tell Eve: “Look, Eve, I am Satan and I am in rebellion against God who created you, and now I want to lead you in the same rebellion in which I am.” No. Satan came and lied, changing what God’s clear words mean.

After the exaggerations and the wrong quotations from the Word of God, Eve really felt that she was missing something very tasty in the garden, and she forgot all the trees that were under her free access, and she forgot even the tree of life! And look what was her only need now:

“When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.” (Genesis 3:6)

This was the rebellion of man against his Creator Lord… And immediately after this rebellion, man became religious!! Religious??… Yes, religious. Read with me:

“Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.” (Genesis 3:7)

This nakedness is not just a physical nakedness. In fact, if sin didn’t enter to the world, we would continue to live naked, because we would not have sinful lust because of it. You see here that their eyes were opened to sin, so they began to feel the shame of sin in their hearts, and so they wanted to cover their shameful sinfulness. To cover that, what did they choose? Did they choose for example to ask God how to solve this problem? Did they begin to think about the death sentence that was upon them now? No. They chose to cover themselves with fig leaves… Fig leaves and the fruit of the ground in the Bible represent human good works by which they try to please God, the works that are offered from the ground, from man, to God, and that meaning began from this first incidence with Adam and Eve who wanted to cover their sinfulness with their good works. After them Cain also wanted to present to God an offering from the fruit of the earth, but God refused that offering (see Genesis 4:3-5.) And this is what religion is. Religion tells you to try to make yourself right with God by having good intentions, doing good works, helping the poor, praying very much, going to pilgrimage, like to Harissa or to St. Charbel, to do this and that… but it never tells you to solve the problem of spiritual death, because it cannot offer you a solution! God said that the result of eating from the forbidden tree would be to surely die, and that’s what happened: we all died spiritually. This means that we were separated from God spiritually, and we became the enemies of God by our wills and rebellious hearts. The solution for this spiritual death is not by covering it with dead works that look good, like Adam and Eve did by covering themselves with fig leaves, but by paying that punishment of death. So the solution would be either that Adam and Eve would die eternally and thus no solution (and that would be just, as God said that death would be the result of their sin,) or that someone else pay the punishment in the place of man, and thus man can be saved by putting himself under the authority of this substitute who will pay the debt in his place. Now, we saw that Adam and Eve didn’t even want to think about all this, and they chose good works instead, they chose religion, and so they covered themselves with fig leaves. And this is what Satan wants; he wants to turn your eyes from the necessity of a solution for the problem of spiritual death and the necessity to be born again, and so he encourages you to be religious, to try to do your best to do good works and to please God, to expect miracles from Saints and thus to think that you are good with God and therefore the Saint did good to you, to run after signs and wonders… etc etc… But the essential for Satan is that you never think about your state of spiritual death and separation from God. And the blood of Jesus is the solution to that problem. Look how:

After Adam and Eve made for themselves covering with fig leaves and chose religion and good works to cover their sinfulness, look what happened:

“They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”
He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.””
    (Genesis 3:8-10)

Oh? Did they not plan to cover themselves with those leaves? Then why do they still find themselves naked when God calls them? God called man, and man told him that he hid himself because he was naked and was what? Ashamed? NO! He was AFRAID!!! Man was afraid because he was spiritually sinful and naked before God, even with all those fig leaves on his body!! So good works didn’t serve to cover his sinfulness before God. And look what was the solution of God:

“The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.” (Genesis 3:21)

This means that God sacrificed an animal, and made garments for Adam and Eve from the skin of that animal. By this He gave Adam and Eve the first Gospel message: that another should die to pay the debt of death that was upon them because of their sin. And with this sign, He also made it clear that this animal substitute was only a shadow or a symbol for the true Substitute Jesus Christ who would be born from a virgin woman, and would pay the debt of our sins by dying on the cross. Here is the promise of God while He was talking to Satan:

    “And I will put enmity
    Between you and the woman,
    And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
    (Genesis 3:15)

Jesus Christ is the only One who could bruise the head of Satan. And that’s what He did. To be saved from the fear of eternal death in Hell and from the judgment that comes on your sins, you need to put your whole trust in this Substitute who has paid the debt of our sins and place yourself under His authority as your Lord, and NEVER put your trust on any good work that you may or any human or Saint may do! You cannot save yourself, and no one can save you. Only Jesus Christ has paid the debt of our sins, and only Jesus Christ could bruise the head of Satan, so only Jesus Christ can save you.

But as he has been doing from the beginning, Satan wants to deceive people and turn their eyes from this solution, because, as our Beloved Lord said, Satan “was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44) Satan wants to see you dead eternally in Hell. Jesus said Satan is a murderer; he wants to kill you eternally in Hell. And to do that, he uses deceptions and lies, and never comes to you as Satan and as bad unless you are fully under his total direction. So, just as he did with Eve, today Satan exaggerates by adding things on the Word of God, and he tries to make you doubt what God said by giving his own interpretations to the Word of God, and by that he tries to turn your eyes from the clear words of God. And he always succeeds in this with those who are still not saved from the spiritual death through what Jesus did on the cross. Satan comes to the lost people even in the form of a good angel or in the form of a Saint, because if he comes as Satan people will not be deceived! Satan uses false understandings and false interpretations of the Word of God to deceive you and to lead you in those false practices by believing those appearances, like in the case of Medugorje. Satan even uses healings that God may do in order to make people think that a dead man did them, and thus to turn your eyes from Jesus to that dead man; and thus you fall in spiritism, and you put your trust in that dead man, and you go after him, and you even talk to him although he is dead… And thus you are fallen in the sin of spiritism, you call the spirits of the dead to ask them things, you put your trust on whatever good things you may do to save yourself, you put your trust on what that Saint can do for you such as prayer etc… And thus you continue in your blindness, and then you go to eternal Hell, never thinking about the judgment of spiritual and physical death that is upon us because of sin, and never accepting the Sacrifice that Jesus presented on the cross, because you always think you can please God by your good works. And thus, Satan succeeds; he succeeds to turn your eyes from Jesus Christ and what He did for you. And from what I explained above, you see that religion and good works couldn’t cover the sinfulness of Adam and Eve. So Satan would be very glad if you do like what Adam and Eve first did, and if you try to please God by being religious and by trying to do as much good works as you can to please Him. The essential for Satan is that you don’t put your trust on Christ and on what He did on the cross. Satan tells you: “do whatever you want… go to pilgrimage, pray, burn incense, help the poor, be a very good person, BUT BUT BUT… don’t ever think about the spiritual death in which you are! Don’t ever put your trust on what Jesus did on the cross for you! That’s not enough! That doesn’t help! You should do good works to save yourself!”

But this is a lie! For God’s Word is clear about this:

“For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.” (Romans 3:28)

“But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.” (Romans 11:6)

It is on the basis of the work that Jesus did on the cross that you can be justified before God, and thus be reconciled with Him. You receive that work of Christ by putting your faith on Christ alone. This means that you stop trusting on what you can do to save yourself or on anything anyone may do to save you, and you put yourself under the authority of Jesus Christ alone. Thus Jesus becomes your personal Lord and Savior. ONLY THEN, and after you are born again (or in other words, you are created in Christ Jesus) you begin to walk according to the Will of God, and you begin to give the fruit that God wants. Look what the Word of God says:

    “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
    (Ephesians 2:8-10)

The works that are really good in the sight of God are prepared only for those who are created in Christ Jesus. In other words, you may not be doing such acceptable good works unless you are born again. You may do many good works without being saved from the spiritual death, but that doesn’t save you. You first need to be saved from that spiritual death and be born again, and only then you begin to do works that are really works of life. God does not accept works of spiritual death, even if they look good to humans.

And this is what I meant in that passage that you asked about, elise. If there is something unclear, please point to it in your reply. But please don’t postpone your reconciliation with God. The whole world doesn’t profit you anything if you are not saved from this spiritual death. And Satan is doing all his possible to turn the eyes of people from this Salvation by making them busy with many other things like pleasures, work, studies, friends… etc… Many of these things are not bad in themselves, but if they turn your eyes from the Salvation that Jesus presents to you today, then they are bad. Only when you know Jesus personally as your Lord and Savior you can really work and study and have friends and all according to His Will, and thus glorify Him in all things.

You know that you are always in my prayers.

    Grace be with you!

    Disciple of Jesus Christ

    Hi, Elise.

In Time Changer (a good Christian movie, by the way), there is a man who says something very interesting. He says that Satan does not care whether you have high morals or not. All he cares is that you do not come to Jesus in repentant faith.

Actually, Satan will even encourage a person to follow some religion if he sees that this is what it takes for the person to stay away from Jesus.

Satan’s enemy is Jesus, not morals/religions.

  5. elise says:

Being precise in quoting what God says is very important, and it protects us against the deceptions of Satan .

wow very nice ! and it is really amazing how u interpreted Genesis , especially that i read it yesterday and im happy i read this today!

i understand every word you said and i believe that Jesus is my only Saviour and only he is the way to life !
your post is a treasure because it contains everything , everyone should read it , it encourage to read the Bible without adding our special intrepretations. Im really thankful to your post

Thanks to u as well SoldierofChrist , yes indeed i never heard any church talking about how we should be born again or that we die in our sins if we don’t repent . There is no reason that they don’t preach about it, but still they never do, its really weird.

before i met you i never knew about it , now i read the Bible and im sure that without repentance noone can be born again and live foreever in Christ
many people don’t know about this, and this is their fault and the fault of the church.
    anyhow thanks for your posts

  6. Disciple of Jesus Christ says:

Yes, elise, all humans need to be born of God and escape from the deceptions of Satan.

    Jesus said it clearly:

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)

“You must be born again.” (John 3:7)

And He also explained how that happens:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
“He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
    (John 3:16-18)

When you really believe in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you are born of God. Thus, you put yourself under His authority, as I said in my previous reply.

before i met you i never knew about it , now i read the Bible and im sure that without repentance noone can be born again and live foreever in Christ

Yes, it’s by faith that we are born again. And this faith is what makes you repent and be under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

You’re always in my prayers. Be encouraged to walk in the way of the Lord, and don’t be discouraged by the lies of Satan.

    Grace to you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  7. John Iteshi says:

Have you got any evidence at all that the Catholic Church has approved any of the signs you have discussed above.

The mere fact that you have seen some Catholics seemingly swayed by them is not enough to accuse the Catholic of lacking the spiritual widom of discerning wrong signs!

I remain a Catholic forever because I am sure that te Catholic Church is right!!

  8. Dear John,

The catholic Church has never and will never approve any kind of signs similar to the ones you have seen in this article, because the catholic Church follows the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and is never deceived by Satan. For a clarification about the catholic Church of Christ, please read the introduction of the article, and if you want more details, you can read the following article written as an answer to Mormons who are ignorant about what the catholic Church is: The confusion about the catholic Church.

As for the Roman Catholic heresy, well yes, we have many evidences that they approve all these superstitions and any superstition similar to them. On the 22nd of each month, you can visit the hermitage of Charbel in Annaya, Lebanon, and you can participate to a Mass which they believe was commanded by Charbel when he made to Nohad Al-Chami an operation… As if Charbel is a surgeon… You can read about this here. Of course, the Roman Catholic authorities of that hermitage do not warn people from following such deceptions, but on the contrary, they approve them by opening the doors of the hermitage’s church building to have a Mass to the glory of Charbel during which they worship Charbel rather than Christ… Note that the Roman Catholic heresy has officially approved the so-called “miracle” of Nohad Al-Chami… The story of this confused woman was published by the monastery in which Charbel lived. The story contains many superstitions. You can read the story here. So maybe you think the Roman Catholic monasteries publish books without the approval of the bishop and of the Pope, but that’s your own personal opinion that has no relation with reality…

Another fact is the one related to Raymond Nader whose picture you see in the article with a tattoo of Charbel’s hand on his arm… The Roman Catholic heresy so much “disproves” his example that they made him the executive director of their official Lebanese satellite channel, Noursat… And he keeps showing up in Roman Catholic meetings to tell people what Charbel has done to him, as his heresy approves all what he says… And thus people are misled to believe satanic lies.

All these deceptions are behind the lie related to Guilda Ayoub’s experience. The Roman Catholics still approve what happened to this girl and they encourage her to go deeper in that deception: Guilda Ayoub still appears on Lebanese channels to explain her experience, and a Priest accompanies her to approve the story…

And here is a picture of another Roman Catholic superstition related to Charbel. This link will lead you to the picture of the statue of Charbel at the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral in Mexico City with handwritten prayer requests attached as ribbons underneath. So prayers are addressed to a creature as a result of all those deceptions; and note that the authorities of that Cathedral are not forbidding such false practices…

So, dear John, it’s you who need to give us any evidence that the Roman Catholic heresy disproves these false signs and warns people against them.

You say you will remain a Roman Catholic forever. I hope that you will wake up and become a Christian instead. Only Jesus Christ is right, and not any human individual or group, not even the Church. Only Jesus Christ is the Truth. This is what the Word of God says.

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  9. paul says:

it is cool to express yourself but stick to the subject of discuss. it is unclear who started the circulation of the mail in the first place. there is no link between that source and the catholic church! it is also erronous for you to say that Most of the religious superstitious emails are based on Roman Catholic vanities that are based on their human corrupted teachings
(obviously you have not done your homework properly) or that the religion is the most not question what you do not understand.treat the mail for what you think instead of casting aspersions on something beyond your comprehension.

  10. Dear Paul,

It is clear that you didn’t follow this topic well. I have already given the evidences that this kind of superstitions come from Roman Catholics and they are approved officially by the Roman Catholic authorities.

N.B.: When I said that most of the religious superstitious emails are based on Roman Catholic vanities that are based on their human corrupted teachings, I said that in a context. I never said this in the sense that you seemingly understood it. You should read me carefully, keeping in mind that Roman Catholic vanities and all human corrupted teachings are common to all religions. Roman Catholicism is not only the organization called by that name, but also a whole way of thought based on human philosophies that are not based on Christ and that are expressed by the Apostle Paul in the following way: “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” (Colossians 2:8) We are seeing practically how all Roman Catholic teachings are based on such philosophies in our series Roman Catholic desperate defense of Marian worship. So please try to read our weblog’s articles a little, especially those related to Roman Catholicism, so that you may understand what we mean by “Roman Catholic vanities”. You need to understand that, if we are obliged to use the word “religion” about our Faith, then we think that there are only two religions in the world: 1. The religion of self-righteousness; 2. The religion of God’s Righteousness. Roman Catholicism is part of the first one, i.e. of the religion of self-righteousness.

I have treated the email for what it is: A simple result of Roman Catholic false teachings.

    Grace be with you!

  11. trish says:

Obviously dear disciple, you are well read and have all the right words on your finger tips.
One thing my faith as a Christian and a Catholic has taught me is that God has no limits. Limiting God in his fullness (if you truly understand who he is) to a book (Bible) is heresy in itself and by the way, who made you Judge!!
I’m not out to argue out your points because obviously you have all the right words, but one thing is certain, my faith as a practicing Catholic has never failed me and I’m convinced in my spirit that I’m on the right path. And because the Holy Spirit of God directs my path, I’m better convinced that I am indeed on the right path.
There are no logical reasoning to the things of God.
Take God out of the books and into your hearts.

  12. Dear trish,

First, sarcasm is not a good tactic to defend your wrong doctrines.

Second, it is true that God is not limited, and we do not limit Him to a book, because the Bible is not just a book, but it is the Word of God. If you think that you can know God (and not only about God) in any other way than His Word, then inform us about that way. Show us how God may reveal Himself in any way that may contradict His written Word. If you mean that those ways are those Roman Catholic superstitions about which our article talks, then I got what you mean…

Who made me judge of what? God said that we should obey His Word. If you have any problem with this, then you prove to be what you say you are: a Roman Catholic…

Third, it’s not true that I have all the right words. Only God has the right words, and we as His children we present His Word to the world. As I said above, sarcasm is not a good way to defend your heretical teachings. That shows the bankruptcy of Roman Catholics… You can’t defend those superstitions, so you just say “Well, I won’t answer, because you won’t listen anyway”. Yes, I won’t accept your superstitions, because they contradict the truth of God.

What do you mean when you say that your Roman Catholic faith has never failed you? When did anyone’s opinions look bad to him? You know what God says? Read with me:

“There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12)

So I don’t doubt that your way seems right to you, just as I don’t doubt that the way of a Muslim seems right to him. But as long as you are not born of God, as long as you have not yet experienced the Salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ, then your path is leading you to eternal death in Hell. I don’t want to deceive you with sweet words. I am not here to write poetry that would elevate your self-esteem. I am here to tell you the truth as it is, without hypocrisy and with love. If you have even one unforgiven sin, if you are not cleansed from all your sins, if you’re not a saint, then you will die in your sins and will perish in Hell. I say this with the same tone in which I would say to my most beloved “Beware of that cup; it contains a poison!” You may think that your way is right, but that doesn’t make you able to enter Heaven. God will not take into account how you thought about yourself, but He will look to your heart and show you all the sins that you have committed whether in thought or deed. No sin can enter into His Presence. You need to be saved from your sins. You may even be convinced of your righteousness, but God says that no man is righteous, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). You know? “The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick” (Jeremiah 17:9). So beware: your heart is deceiving you.

And you say that the Holy Spirit of God directs your path. But I tell you that this is not true, because the Holy Spirit of God is not just a power that works separately from God. The Holy Spirit is God Himself, and God does not direct anyone’s path in a direction that contradicts what He has already revealed to us in His written Word. So just be careful, because you have received another spirit which is leading you to death:
“For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.” (2 Corinthians 11:4)

So think well about your confusion.

And if God is not logical for you, that’s because you never knew Him. It’s true that we can’t understand God with our logic, but this doesn’t mean that He is not logical. It’s only that God is not under our logic. We speak about God with spiritual logic which the natural man cannot understand (cf. 1 Corinthians 2:14).

And at the end you tell us to take God out of the books and into our hearts, and on this I have two main comments:

    1. You previously said that I don’t have the right to judge. Then how do YOU have the right to judge whether I have God in my heart or not? (Note: I already explained above that God for us is not in some books, but God has revealed Himself in His Word, and His Word is not dead but living (cf. Hebrews 4:12).

    2. Which god is it that you want us to receive into our hearts? Any other god than the God of the Bible?…

Finally, I thank God that this article is being used by Him to His Glory.

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  13. trish says:

Great disciple, like I implied in my previous response, your use of words is impressive and you think you know so much; little wonder that you in your small mind(and i don’t mean this as an insult) think you can comprehend God because you’ve read the Bible. Who told you that God has stopped speaking to man in ways other than the Bible? Do you even know and understand the history of the Bible? Who told you, you are better off than the next person who professes other faiths other than yours because you think you are a protestant and as such in your loftiness now think you understands God ? Obviously you are not even close to understanding the heart of God. You think God thinks and acts like you do and will allow millions of people; the creations of his own very hands to be damned because they do not profess your ‘Faith”. I definitely will not listen to you because you are obviously very parochial, judgmental and lofty and the Holy Spirit cannot be present in those! However ponder on this little quote from the epistle of St. Augustine which says: “Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance”.

  14. Dear trish,

Thank you for admitting again that Roman Catholics are so powerless before our biblical arguments that they are trying to avoid them with all means… Once again, you tried to look humble (which is hypocrisy) by saying that you won’t answer us with proofs and evidences, although the fact is that you can’t answer us, because the truth is not on your side. I wonder since when it became a matter of pride to be sure that we are in the truth… You say you are humble for not being sure of the truth, while the Apostle John says:

We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” (1 John 5:19)

Are you more humble than the Apostle John?… John says we KNOW that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one, while you say that I should not be so sure like John is sure. I guess you’re advising me not to follow the example of the Apostle John, and to rather follow your wrong example. I am sorry for you; you’re lost. I prefer to follow the Word of God and the example of John. I KNOW that I am of God with all those who are in Christ Jesus, and I KNOW that the whole world (without exception) lies in the power of the evil one.

According to the Bible, it is humility NOT to doubt Christ, therefore there is no real faith without that humility that does not doubt the truth of God. Any other kind of faith is hypocrisy, because it doesn’t rely on the truth of God but on the self, which is idolatry. While for heretics like you the contrary is true: You say that humility means to doubt Christ and God’s truth, and to rely on your deceitful self that tells you that the truth is relative. You will be lost in the pride of your reliance on yourself, and yet you call it “humility”. You have reversed things, and whatever is true humility has become for you pride, and whatever is true pride has become for you humility… In the old times, a prophet of God expressed this reversal of truth in the following way:

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever in their own sight!”
    (Isaiah 5:20-21)

Woe to you who call humility pride and pride humility!

Even a Roman Catholic has in the past opposed your foolish position in the following way:

But what we suffer from to-day is humility in the wrong place. Modesty has moved from the organ of ambition. Modesty has settled upon the organ of conviction; where it was never meant to be. A man was meant to be doubtful about himself, but undoubting about the truth; this has been exactly reversed. Nowadays the part of a man that a man does assert is exactly the part he ought not to assert himself. The part he doubts is exactly the part he ought not to doubt — the Divine Reason. […]
At any street corner we may meet a man who utters the frantic and blasphemous statement that he may be wrong. Every day one comes across somebody who says that of course his view may not be the right one. Of course his view must be the right one, or it is not his view. We are on the road to producing a race of men too mentally modest to believe in the multiplication table. We are in danger of seeing philosophers who doubt the law of gravity as being a mere fancy of their own. Scoffers of old time were too proud to be convinced; but these are too humble to be convinced. The meek do inherit the earth; but the modern sceptics are too meek even to claim their inheritance. It is exactly this intellectual helplessness which is our second problem.
Source: Orthodoxy by Gilbert K. Chesterton (British Roman Catholic journalist-author who died in 1936)

Do you see? Even your Roman Catholic friend rebukes you! Did you read what he says about you? He says that scoffers of old time were too proud to be convinced; but you think that you are too humble to be convinced. You consider it humility NOT to be convinced of the truth! What a heresy you are living in!

As I said in my previous reply, we do not have the right words. It’s not me who have the right words, but GOD. If I doubt that God has the right words and I suppose that this my position is the right position, THEN I will be proud like you. You think that God’s words are not right, and you think that this opinion of yours is the right opinion; thus you are proud in the right sense of the word. As your Roman Catholic friend said above against you: “A man was meant to be doubtful about himself, but undoubting about the truth; this has been exactly reversed. Nowadays the part of a man that a man does assert is exactly the part he ought not to assert himself. The part he doubts is exactly the part he ought not to doubt — the Divine Reason.” You doubt God’s truth, while you don’t doubt the truthfulness of your own opinion which says that God’s truth is doubtful and that truth is relative…

Do you see now who is proud, dear friend? Unless you wake up of this evil in which you are, you will neither know who the Holy Spirit is and who are those in whom the Holy Spirit dwells.

It is only when you are born of God that you will have the mind of Christ and thus understand God. Read with me how Paul IN ALL HUMILITY says:

“For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)

We HAVE the mind of Christ! And Paul says it in all humility. While proud people like you cannot have the mind of Christ.

So, no dear friend: It’s not enough to read the Bible to understand God. The Pharisees have read the Bible more than you and me, but they could not understand God. You need to be born of God, or else you remain a natural man who cannot accept the things of the Spirit of God and who cannot understand God (cf. 1 Corinthians 2:14). Only those who are born of God have the mind of Christ, and thus when they read His Word, they understand the mind of God, as they know God personally.

As I told you before, God always talks to men in many ways, but all these ways do not contradict His written Word, because God does not contradict Himself. He has said His final Word in His incarnated Word, Jesus Christ (cf. Hebrews 1:1-2). Whatever contradicts His written Word is not from God, but from the evil one:

“I have not written to you because ye do not know the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.” (1 John 2:21)

So if by those “other ways” that you are talking about you mean those lies that contradict the Word of God which is the truth (cf. John 17:17), then be instructed by what John says: your lie is not of the truth! There is no way to defend those Roman Catholic superstitions!

Now, as you ask about the history of the Bible, then please read the following article: The Canon of Scripture. I hope that will help you know about the history of the Bible…

And nobody told me that I am better than any lost human who still doesn’t know the truth of God. And THAT exactly is why I have received the Grace of God: Because I don’t think I am better than any human, but on the contrary, I KNOW that I am the foremost of all sinners (cf. 1 Timothy 1:15), and I AM SURE that it is ONLY by the Grace of God that I am what I am (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:10). There is NO other way to receive God’s Grace, dear friend. If you don’t admit that you’re a lost sinner who is worse than the next person, then you will not receive God’s Grace. This is exactly what the Lord also said so clearly in His Sermon on the Mount:

“Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.” (Matthew 5:3)

If the next person about whom you’re talking thinks like you, namely that he is spiritually rich and thus deserves to go to Heaven, then let him listen to what Jesus said: It is not the rich in spirit who will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but the POOR in spirit! It is not when you boast of your personal opinions that you will be saved! It is when you admit that you don’t have anything good in yourself, and you trust that ONLY God’s truth is what you can be sure about. While what you do now is to boast of your personal opinions and to think that humility means NOT to rely on God’s truth. This is how you try to reverse the facts to your own destruction.

I would also like to remind you that I am not a Protestant. An honest person would first make at least a tour on our blog before judging that we are Protestants…

So humility means to be like Christ who said:

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me.” (John 14:6)

So maybe you think Jesus was not humble, but proud, because He said that there is no way to be saved other than by faith in Him… You think Jesus was so intolerant…

    Again, Jesus said:

“He that believes on him is not judged: but he that believes not has been already judged, because he has not believed on the name of the only-begotten Son of God.” (John 3:18)

The one who doesn’t believe in Christ has been ALREADY judged! He is under judgment right now, and the wrath of God ABIDES on him:

“He that believes on the Son has life eternal, and he that is not subject to the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides upon him.” (John 3:36)

So the right thing to do is not to boast of being so humble that we don’t want to tell this “next person” the truth, thus leaving him to go to Hell through the darkness of his ways. The right thing to do is to be so humble as to admit that ONLY God is true and all men are liars, and to reach all men with His truth, because God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4) So that “next person” of yours will not be saved unless he comes to the knowledge of the truth of God.

And what you quoted from Augustine about humility is very true. And we have seen above what true humility is. And yet you should read ALL what Augustine wrote, and you should not despise the parts that clearly say that only those who believe in Christ will be saved and only those true believers have the Spirit of God.

So once again, you couldn’t say anything in defense of those superstitious beliefs of the Roman Catholics. The reason is clear: False teachings cannot stand before the power of God’s Word.

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  15. Emeka says:

It is obvious that the writer of this article is biased and among other things trying to confine God who is a spirit and therefore unconfineable. He exposes himself, unfortunately, in his ignorance, the history of the Bible, and how it came about. You ought to know that the Bible did not just fall down from heaven in one piece, but the fruit of the labour of this Roman Catholic church that you are making such an effort, albeit insignificant, to destroy. Would it not be better to go to Afghanistan,Iran,Iraq,Yemen, et al and convert them rather than sitting in your air-conditioned office on your laptop to discredit your fellow christians for no just cause? May be you are part of the gay group, pro abortion and conraceptive groups that are now employing several means to destroy the Catholic Church.

Should god first come and take permission from you if he so wishes to use Guilda Ayoub for anything whatsoever? You are simply a bigot.Besides you should have know from the bible you so copiously quote that not everything is written in the bible, John 21;25.

  16. Dear Emeka,

First, welcome to this article that is being used by the Lord to reach unbeliever so-called “Christians” with the truth of His Word.

Now, indeed I am biased, and my bias is the Word of God. I believe that all what God said is true. This is the only right bias. Worldly people build their bias around their personal opinions, instead of God’s Word.

Yes, God is Spirit. And I have already explained how His Word is not limited and how we don’t limit Him. So you would do well if you read my previous replies here.

And concerning the history of the Bible as well, I have already given you a link that can help you know what is the origin of the Canon of Scripture. Here it is again: The Canon of Scripture. Indeed, Christians do not believe — like Muslims do about the Qur’an — that the Bible fell down from Heaven. When you read that article, you will see how much deceived are those people who ascribe to man anything in God’s Word. You will also learn that the Roman Catholic movement was not yet called a “Church” in the time when the catholic Church of Christ declared what God had already decided is the Word of God. For your confusions about what the catholic Church is and how it is different from the Roman Catholic movement, you can read the following article which was originally addressed to Mormons who have the same misunderstandings that Roman Catholics have about the catholic Church: The confusion about the catholic Church. If the Bible were the fruit of the labour of a human institution, then it would not be the Word of God but the word of men. But it is the Word of God, as Jesus and all the men of God testified.

I am not working to destroy the catholic Church of Christ. I am a member of this Church. I am fighting with God’s Word against a heresy called “the Roman Catholic movement” which is trying to deceive the saints of God. You would do well if you read the introduction of this article more carefully.

Please, stop judging that we are not reaching all unbelievers with this mission. You should read our articles addressed to Muslims and atheists etc. to see how your judgment is wrong. But how does this mean that we should not reach heretics like Roman Catholics?

And please don’t assume that I have an air-conditioned office. You would never imagine in how much difficulties this mission is continuing. But all is of God’s Grace, and that Grace is sufficient.

And no, I am not discrediting my fellow Christians. Roman Catholics are Christians only by name, just as Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses call themselves Christians. Those who follow such superstitions as the ones these confused and lost people follow are not Christians. True Christians obey the Word of God and keep themselves from idols; the evil one cannot touch them.

And please note how you’re judging us again as being a gay or pro-abortion group… As I previously told trish, you should at least make a tour on our blog before you judge us ignorantly like you’re doing now. Here is an important article on our blog about homosexuality: The sin of homosexuality. And here is an article that contains our view on abortion: Where do babies go when they die? And we have a link on our blog’s sidebar that takes you to the blog of Morals in Pharmacy. I guess you never tried to see what that blog contains, but here is an article from that blog: Pharmacist accused for being moral. Just read it and see what it says about abortion…

God doesn’t do anything contrary to His Nature. And we know from His Word, the Bible, how His Nature is. As we have seen in this article, superstitions like the one of Guilda Ayoub are contrary to God’s Word and thus they are contrary to His Nature. God does not do things that are against His Nature. God does not change. So, no, dear Emeka, God doesn’t take permission from any human to keep being Himself. Your superstitions cannot have His approval, because they are against His holy Nature. And guess what! I never said that God is not using these superstitions for anything whatsoever! I clearly said how He is using them. Let’s read it again:

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
    Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;
that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,
and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

Those who hate the truth are judged by God. So God uses these deceptions of Satan to make these haters of the truth go from one deception to another in their darkness.

Only those who admit that they are lost sinners are born of God and see the truth.

You call me bigot for believing and declaring the powerful Word of God, and that’s fine with me. I rejoice when you persecute me, just as the Lord said:

“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
    (Matthew 5:11-12)

You would even call the Lord Jesus a bigot… because He said:

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6)

And you would also call His Apostle John a bigot, because he said:

“We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” (1 John 5:19)

Yes, not everything is written in the Bible. For instance, it was not written in the Bible how many people Jesus healed. But it WAS written in the Bible that He healed many. So we KNOW that Jesus healed people, because that’s essential to know. How many did He heal? That’s not essential for our faith. Whatever was essential for a pure faith was written in the Bible. And whatever contradicts what is written in the Bible is not of the truth. God cannot contradict Himself. So if you were trying with this comment to make your superstitions acceptable, then that was a poor trial, because whatever was not written in the Bible about the life of Jesus did not contradict whatever was written.

And thus, Roman Catholics keep attacking the truth with their poor arguments, and they still have not found any argument to defend those vain superstitions which they follow. But they are so obstinate in following deceptions and hating the truth that they don’t want to see the evident truth of God’s Word.

    Dear Diciple of JC,
I happened to just stumble across this page today, as I was seeking some information, and could not help but read your thoughts & opinions of the Catholic faith & of course others responses.

Indeed you have many interesting interpretations, and unfortunately I am very short with time to go through many concerns I came across…however, very briefly I think you are confused about the Roman Catholic Church. Refering to the very top of this page, you made the distinction between Roman Catholicism & the Catholic Church of Christ…yet in light of our faith as Catholics, these are not 2 seperate entities. For our faith very much comes from the Bible, and also from the Catholic Church itself. For these two depend on each other, and the Bible afterall is a collection of many books which the Vatican has chosen to collate, written via the inspiration of followers of Christ before our time.

I agree with you about superstitions, and indeed I believe that we unconsciously practise some. However, apart from your own faith & your own interpretations of the Bible, how can you be so sure that such aparitions [eg Guilda] are works of the devil? Collecting verses from the Bible may look supportive to justify your arguments, but you forget that if such aparitions were to happen, I doubt people would be running after the sign before them. Rather, their faith in God & Jesus would be immensly deeper, giving them reasons not to doubt, and to focus their time/minds on the goodness of God Himself.

Catholics don’t worship saints, we don’t worship statues, or ‘holy pictures’. Lets get this part clear. Statues and pictures of holy people are merely symbols. These may help us to focus our attention when communicating with Christ, and serve as a reminder to the truth these images portray. Worshipping idols & using symbols are 2 very different concepts.

Saints are special people who lived a very special life. Again, we do not celebrate Mass worshipping them! We ONLY worship God & our Lord Jesus Christ. We honour Mary and the Saints because they leave a legacy, and should we keep them alive in our faith, it serves as a celebration, not only to the wonderous love they had for God, and as role models for us, but proof of God’s very existence & ultimately that our faith can be measured.

Obviously you are a person of great faith, but may the grace of God open your eyes to wisdom & understanding.

    God bless,

PS: I had a look at your articles re Where unborn children go?… you gave no concrete answer
Homosexuality…is it really a sin???? To be homosexual is not a sin. To be practising homosexuality is. You failed to distinguish the 2 concepts here. This only proves my point above..that the Bible and the Church go hand in hand. 1 does not work without the other. A homosexual is not a sinner if s/he has chosen to live a chaste life.

  18. Dear Suzannah,

Welcome to our blog. I thank the Lord again that this article is helping many unbelievers know the biblical truth.

Concerning the catholic Church, it will be helpful if you read our article The confusion about the catholic Church, so that you may see that you have been deceived into believing that the Roman Catholic movement is that one Church of Christ. In fact, all heresies and sects try to convince people that they are the true Church. Look for example to the Mormons: they call themselves the saints of the latter days… So you should read the Bible to see how the Roman Catholic heresy clearly contradicts all what God says. Indeed, the Roman Catholics do not agree with the Bible, but they disobey God’s Word.

This heresy has convinced its followers that it is the Roman Catholic heresy that chose what should be God’s Word, thus teaching that the Bible is the word of men and not the Word of God. The same is taught by many other heresies and sects. Therefore, I have previously given you a link to an article on our blog that helps you see how deceitful is that teaching that says that men chose what should be the Bible. Here is the link to that article again: The Canon of Scripture. Read it, and you will see how the Roman Catholic movement was not yet called a “Church” when the catholic Church declared what GOD had chosen to be the Word of God.

Thank you for being honest and for admitting that Roman Catholics practice many superstitions, even unconsciously… And note that I never give my own interpretations of what the Bible says, but I let the Bible interpret itself. We have seen in this article how those superstitions are clearly wrong according to God’s Word, and we have seen how they are even against God’s Nature and against the New Covenant. And as you see, Roman Catholics are not able to oppose those biblical truths with any argument; all what they do is to attack me and insult me instead of trying to argue respectfully.

The signs, done in the last days among unbelievers, were never meant to lead people to faith in Christ, dear Suzannah. You should read the article more carefully to see how I explained all these points. Read how these deceitful signs come on those who refuse the love of the truth.

Roman Catholics worship Saints. If burning incense before the statue of a human and talking to him when he is dead is not called worship, then what do you call it? What is worship for you, in the first place?? Is it only to say “you are my god”?? For instance, Roman Catholics ask Mary to save them, while the Bible says that ONLY God is the Savior. Anyway, the worship of humans is so clear in Roman Catholicism that it doesn’t even need to be proved.

You say that pictures and statues of humans are mere symbols, but then we see Roman Catholics kneeling before those symbols and burning incense before them (N.B.: incense in the Bible is a symbol of worship and prayer…) And the Lord clearly said that we should worship God in spirit and in truth, and not by the means of symbols. Read this for example:

“But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again?” (Galatians 4:9)

And those statues are clearly forbidden by God:

“You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
You shall not worship them or serve them”
    (Exodus 20:4-5)

Roman Catholics convince their followers that these are mere symbols, but those who are deceived by them do not know that the pagans also believed that their statues were mere symbols. Do you think that pagans used to believe that that stone is itself a god?? That’s not true. They thought that the statue represented a god who existed in heaven. Read with me:

“After quieting the crowd, the town clerk said, “Men of Ephesus, what man is there after all who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is guardian of the temple of the great Artemis and of the image which fell down from heaven?
So, since these are undeniable facts, you ought to keep calm and to do nothing rash.” (Acts 19:35-36)

As you see, the pagans believed that those statues were made after an image that fell down from heaven where their god was… And this is what the Bible opposes: the worship of false gods; and its argument is that there is no real god behind that statue. But Roman Catholics still worship their gods, and just like those pagans they suppose that those statues represent their gods that exist in Heaven… But, unlike Roman Catholics, the true Christian says with the psalmist that He has no one other than God in Heaven to be worshiped:

Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.” (Psalm 73:25)

So we have no one other than God in Heaven to be worshiped. All the saints that are in Heaven are NOT to be worshiped, but they themselves worship God.

Now, you say that saints are very special people who lived very special lives. But the Bible says that if you are not a saint then you will not enter Heaven and you will not see God:

“Pursue peace with all, and holiness, without which no one shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14)

And all true Christians are saints:

No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.”
    (1 John 3:9-10)

Note how the Apostle says that THIS is how the children of God are known: when they are saints who practice righteousness. But Roman Catholics teach their followers that only a few are saints, because they have given a totally new definition to who a saint is and they have changed the truth about how a person becomes a saint and is saved. They teach that a person becomes a saint when he becomes perfect, while the Bible teaches that no human is sinless, and that a person becomes a saint ONLY by faith in Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. While Roman Catholics, with their false definition of a saint, tell you that people become saints after their death, the true Christians say with the psalmist:

“To the saints that are on the earth, and to the excellent [thou hast said], In them is all my delight.” (Psalm 16:3)

You surely know that these saints who are ON THE EARTH are not dead saints. Indeed, the Apostle even wrote Epistles to them:

“Paul and Timotheus, bondmen of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with [the] overseers and ministers” (Philippians 1:1)

Do you think that Paul was writing to some dead people?…

I hope you will listen to what God says, and not to what those deceivers say.

As for your P.S., it is clear that you didn’t read carefully our article about babies who die, therefore you say that we were not clear in our answer. For instance, show me what is unclear in the following quote from that article:

And many of such human beings are dying today, especially with the increase in the abortions…

I remind you that I referred to this article because one of your Roman Catholic friends accused us of being pro-abortion. As you see, this article clearly says that those who are being killed in abortion are HUMAN BEINGS! And I also gave you another link that helps you know more about our stand on abortion: Pharmacist accused for being moral… You will do well if you read it.

So our stand about abortion is more than clear, and your Roman Catholic friend accused us without reason.

As for homosexuality, our article The sin of homosexuality has clearly quoted the biblical passages that clearly say that homosexuality is a sin. If you disagree with God, then that’s your own problem with your Creator who is Holy and who hates sin. To be saved from the sin of homosexuality, it is not enough to live a chaste life, but the homosexual should be born again, experiencing the love of God for all sinful humans, including homosexuals.

And how does your PS prove your point above? Nobody can tell…

    Grace be with you!

  19. Jake says:

    Dear Disciple of J.C

I am a lebanese maronite and i truly repsect jesus christ as much as you love him. So are u basicly trying to say that saint charbel isnt to be prayed too and that you shoulndnt pray to a saint also?. Because as you know saint charbel was a maronite and he used to pray to god, jesus and mary.

So by praying to mary and asking her for help.. thats a sin?

Its pretty confusing but please reply
Ps my english isnt that great
    God bless

  20. Dear Jake,

Thank you for reading this article.

Well, yes we should only pray to God, because prayer is worship, and the Bible says that we should worship God alone, and not humans. The Bible says that it is God who hears prayers:

“O You who hear prayer, To You all men come.” (Psalm 65:2)

I would like to discuss this issue with you. But first, I would like to ask you: do you believe from all your heart all what God says in the Bible?

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  21. Jake says:

    Thank you for replying

And yes i truly respect and believe in god and try my best to listen to his words…
but then how come saint charbel became blessed and saint if he prayed to jesus and mary??… And also was able to do mircales like cure an old person from being paralyzed in lebanon?? you cant say this is not true cause its been proven of her walking and left with a scar of surgery.

    And look at this article:
God is the only one people in the OT ever prayed to.
    * God is the only one Jesus Himself ever prayed to.
    * Jesus is our model of what a true relationship with God is.

*** God is the only one we pray to.

    Sounds good, right? Except…

    * Jesus claimed to somehow BE God.
    * Jesus’ earliest followers sometimes prayed to Jesus.
    * Jesus’ earliest followers sometimes prayed to the Holy Spirit.

*** We sometimes pray to Jesus and/or the Holy Spirit

Now, how does this not contradict the first conclusion?

*** Jesus and the Holy Spirit ARE SOMEHOW God!

    Ta-dah! The Trinity!

Now this isn’t an iron-clad, mathematical proof of the full-blow doctrine of the Trinity. BUT, it was by reasoning through various thoughts and issues like this that the early Christians gradually were able to put into words the concept of God’s Triune nature, or what we call “The Trinity.”

Ps i love saint charbel and i have a pictures of him and i love jesus
I pray to god and sometimes include jesus and saint charbel in my prayers.

Ps (optional)where are you from? whats your age and do you believe in saint charbel and his miracles?

  22. Dear Jake,

Thank you again for replying. But you didn’t answer my question: Do you believe from all your heart ALL what God says in the Bible?

I will wait for the answer to this question, because it’s essential to all further discussion about this matter.

But I will give a short explanation for all the points that you raised:

    – It’s not enough to try to listen to God’s Word, but you need to listen to God’s Word.

    – It is humans who declared that Charbel is blessed and is a saint. God never said that he is. And even if he were, that doesn’t mean that we can worship him. As I said previously, the Bible clearly says that we should worship God alone, and not humans.

    – The miracles that Charbel may have done (if indeed he has done any miracle) are the works of the devil, as we have seen in the article. Please, read the article again, and read also the comments, and you will find all the evidences for what I am saying. You should always ask: what is the purpose and the result of those “miracles”? The answer will show a true Christian who is the source of those signs…

    – Yes, Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit is God. God is the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. This is clearly declared in the Word of God. And as we have seen before, we should only worship God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. So I don’t see what is your argument here. Mary is not God. The saints are not God. So we can’t worship any of those humans, as they are not God. While Jesus and the Holy Spirit are that One God with the Father; They are One.
If you want to know more about how the Church declared the biblical truth of the Trinity, you can read the following article on this weblog: Was the Church ignorant about the Nature of God?

    – If you have a picture of Charbel, this doesn’t mean that we can worship him and pray to him.

    – My location and my age are not that important for this discussion, because this weblog does not belong to one person. And no, we don’t believe in the miracles of Charbel; we believe in what God says. We know for sure that Charbel was a human like us.

    You said:

I pray to god and sometimes include jesus and saint charbel in my prayers.

Is not Jesus God? Then how can you pray to God without including Jesus Christ? You said you sometimes include Him… How can you pray to God without Jesus Christ? Jesus and the Father are ONE. The Bible says that the only prayers that are acceptable to God are those done by the Name of Jesus Christ, because He is the only Mediator between God and us.

As we said before, Christians do not worship and pray to humans. And Charbel is a human, a human who is now dead.

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  23. Georges Chal says:

I actually dis agree with Jake…I believe disciple of Jesus Christ is correct, we should listen to the teachings of God and not saints who are mere humans and the work of the devil.

  24. Dorian Ghosn says:

I agree with jake… in a way. i pray to god and jesus.. But im not saying i worship saint charbel i only tell him to please help us in our prayers for the lord and god.

    Thank you

Ps tell me if im right
    Lets goo

  25. Dear Dorian Ghosn (Jake),

Please note that we can know from your IP and from your email address that you are the same person as Jake. So please, keep one nickname so that people may not be confused. Indeed, Jake agrees with Jake, and that’s why you said you agree with Jake, because it’s you… Have you not learned from God that we should not be hypocrite, having two faces? Unless you have schizophrenia… We have previously met the same attitude from another person who worships Mary: Click here and here to see it.

You pray to God and Jesus, because God and Jesus are ONE. When you pray to Charbel, you are worshiping him, because prayer is worship. In prayer you express your faith that Charbel is everywhere, and that he can hear your prayers just as he can hear the prayer of a person who lives in another country AT THE SAME TIME… Well, Charbel cannot be in both countries at the same time, and that’s why God’s Word says that it is GOD who hears prayers, as we previously saw. So you say “Charbel is Omnipresent”, when you pray to Charbel, and Omnipresence is an Attribute of God alone. So you worship Charbel, believing that he is Omnipresent…

You ask Charbel to help you in prayer? How do you ask him that? By phone or by email??… Charbel is dead, and having communication with dead people is spiritism and is a sin, and God condemns that sin in the Bible. Wake up and be careful!

So I want to know: Did Charbel teach you to use two nicknames in order to confuse people? Now, Jake (Dorian) agrees with Jake… What a hopeless way to show that there are people who agree with you…

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  26. Jake says:

Yeah sorry Its called using the same computer Dorian is my friend and he wanted to give out his opinion himself your site… Please stop trying to diss me by saying charbel told me to do this… That is a very bad attitude. I appreciate you love god and jesus because i do also, but im just saying that i also repect saint charbel for praying to them for all his life… and how can the devil do miracles and help others and also tell them to go to church and pray for the rest for your life…??

    May god be with you

As we all know only the one from the above has the real answers. Not you
I could be wrong and so can you

  27. Joe Johnson says:

Ok so what if you’re a muslim person?…This is a serious question, please and thank you.

  28. Yeah, Jake, it’s also called using the same email address?…

Anyway, let’s consider that you’re not lying… Let’s examine what you now have to say…

You don’t just respect Charbel, but you worship him, because you pray to him. That point was already settled.

The devil can do signs, as we have seen before in the article and in the comments, and we have seen why he tells you to go to church and to do good deeds: because he wants you to forget about Christ’s blood. Please, read the question of elise in the comments of this article, and see my reply to it. Don’t just jump to the conversation without having any idea about what has already been discussed.

As you said, only God has the real answers; and His answers are in His Word, the Bible. That’s why I asked you if you believe from all your heart all what God says in the Bible. Of course, it’s Him who has the right answers, and not me or you. That’s why I don’t give my own personal opinions as you do, but I quote what God says in His Word, the Bible.

You not only can be wrong, but you are wrong for not believing what God says in the Bible. No one can be wrong for believing God.

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  29. Welcome, Joe.

If you’re a Muslim person, you too should not believe in superstitions like Roman Catholics, but should repent and believe in Christ. If you believe, you are saved; if not, then you are ALREADY judged. That’s what our Beloved Lord said:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal.
For God has not sent his Son into the world that he may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through him.
He that believes on him is not judged: but he that believes not has been already judged, because he has not believed on the name of the only-begotten Son of God.”
    (John 3:16-18)

Jesus did not die only for Christians, and the call to repentance is not addressed only to Christians, but to all humans everywhere, including Muslims:

“God therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, now enjoins men that they shall all everywhere repent,
because he has set a day in which he is going to judge the habitable earth in righteousness by [the] man whom he has appointed, giving the proof [of it] to all [in] having raised him from among [the] dead.”
    (Acts 17:30-31)

The Man whom God has appointed is Jesus Christ! It is Jesus Christ who will judge all humans, including Muslims.

So leave all superstitions and do not be deceived by deceitful beliefs; only when you have Christ by faith you have the eternal life.

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  30. Jake says:

Alright so your saying that the devil can help others by not making them paralyzed anymore? and tell them to go pray and go to church?? how can the devil do good things?
I dont see how these can make u forget about jesus?
    Please explain

  31. Jake, that was explained in the article and in the comments. I told you to read my reply to elise; did you read it?

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  32. Joe Johnson says:

ohh..ok so are you saying Muhammmed is just a myth? Thanks.

  33. Dear Joe,

No, Muhammad is just a false prophet who wanted to lead people away from Christ. Don’t you remember that the Qur’an says that Jesus was not crucified?? Satan does NOT want you to look to the blood of Christ; always remember this.

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ

  34. Joe Johnson says:

Oh I see, nice, I understand the meanings now! Thanks Dude! Cheers!

  35. Jake says:

Lisen i really admire you since you are a strong christian…. But please take the time to bielfy explain why for me

cause i did read it and i dont really understand

    remember my english isnt great

  36. Jake, tell me just what you understood.

By the way: Do you expect me to explain to you now in any other language than English?…

  37. Jake says:

so every miracle is a Evil? … and what if someone prays to jesus and the miracle happens, is that the devil???

  38. No, Jake, every miracle is not evil. That’s not what the article and the comments say. We have seen that NOT all miracles and supernatural things come from God. Let me repeat for you what was said:

    God says:

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.” (2 Thessalonians 2:7-13)

So the antichrist who is from Satan will come with all kinds of signs and miracles. The simple conclusion is that not all signs and miracles come from God. This doesn’t mean that there are no miracles that God does. This very simply means that it is wrong to assume that anyone who does miracles is from God. And we said let’s assume that Charbel has done any miracle: this doesn’t prove in any way that he is a saint from God, because Satan also does miracles. How do we know whether he’s a saint or not? The answer is very simple: we look to his fruits, just as Jesus said. If Charbel teaches things that are against the Word of God, if the miracles that Charbel does lead people away from the blood of Christ, then he is not from God, because God wants us to obey His Word and to look to the blood of Christ. As we have seen in the examples mentioned in the article, Charbel’s miracles are making people worship humans and justify that false worship with those miracles. A living example is you: you justify the worship of Charbel by using those miracles as your argument. So the fruits of Charbel and the results of those miracles do not glorify God, but they turn the eyes of people from the blood of Christ to put them on the wrong places. I have explained in my reply to elise how Satan has always turned people’s eyes from the blood of Christ; read that reply carefully.

Now, those miracles of Charbel are turning people’s eyes from the blood of Christ. Read with me what happened with the following saints, and see how they didn’t turn the eyes away from Christ:

“And Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, [which is] the ninth [hour]; and a certain man who was lame from his mother’s womb was being carried, whom they placed every day at the gate of the temple called Beautiful, to ask alms of those who were going into the temple; who, seeing Peter and John about to enter into the temple, asked to receive alms. And Peter, looking stedfastly upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed to them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, Silver and gold I have not; but what I have, this give I to thee: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazaraean rise up and walk. And having taken hold of him [by] the right hand he raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones were made strong. And leaping up he stood and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God; and they recognised him, that it was he who sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico which is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering. And Peter, seeing it, answered the people, Men of Israel, why are ye astonished at this? or why do ye gaze on us as if we had by our own power or piety made him to walk? The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he had judged that he should be let go. But ye denied the holy and righteous one, and asked that a man [that was] a murderer should be granted to you; but the originator of life ye slew, whom God raised from among [the] dead, whereof we are witnesses. And, by faith in his name, his name has made this [man] strong whom ye behold and know; and the faith which is by him has given him this complete soundness in the presence of you all.” (Acts 3:1-16)

Now, you say that we should worship Charbel because he makes those miracles by his own power or piety. Then explain why Peter and John said that they didn’t make that miracle by their own power or piety. Actually, let’s study this passage together to see how the true saints (Peter and John) refused the worship of humans and pointed to the blood of Christ instead, unlike Charbel and those who follow Charbel. Let’s study it:

First question: What did Peter and John do in this passage?

Please, answer this question and let’s have a conversation about it.

  41. Brother Zeno Rakesh psJM says:

    Dear Disciple of Jesus Christ,

I am Roman Catholic Monk from Nepal and I wish to thank you for your wonderful insight about superstitions. As far as I remember from the very childhood, all my teachers of faith (who were all Roman Catholic Priests, Monks and Nuns) taught me all that you have posted in your message. I do not deny the fact that there are some Roman Catholics who are deceived by superstitions but I seriously disagree with you when you generalize the whole Roman Catholic Church for promoting superstitions.

On the contrary, I too have received many emails some of which are mentioned in your post and I tell you all of them were sent to me by Non-Roman Catholic Christians.

I appreciate, agree and pray with you in your desire/duty to help Christians live the True Faith based on the scriptures but I earnestly beg you to pursue it with a Spirit of love and understanding towards many who haven’t reached the spiritual maturity as you have.

Seeking your prayers for us here in Nepal as I assure you of ours.

    In HIS Service,

  42. Dear Brother Zeno,

I understand that many Roman Catholics like you do not agree with the official position of the Roman Catholic Church about many issues. One of those issues is this case of superstitions that are officially endorsed by Rome, as we have seen previously. Indeed, the Roman Catholic Church officially approves of all those ignorant superstitions that you refuse to follow… So when I comment about them and I generalize, I don’t mean to include those of you who are only Roman Catholics by name and who do not follow all the decisions and teachings of Rome.

And love is not just emotions and feelings, as I have explained many times on this blog. Love does not mean to say nice things to people, deceiving them, and leaving them in their ignorance about the truth while they go to Hell unawares. Love does not mean to continue to support a bad organization like Roman Catholicism when we know that it supports many such superstitions that are leading people to eternal perdition! If you love those people, you don’t take such compromising position that deceives people about your identity and about whom you follow. When Jesus called the Pharisees “brood of vipers” (Matthew 12:34) and “serpents” (Matthew 23:33), He loved them and He loved the other people who were standing there, believe me. If He didn’t make it clear that those Pharisees were deceiving them, those people around Him would not know the truth! The truth matters, Brother Zeno. Your background teaches you that love is all what matters (and of course they mean the wrong kind of love that compromises the truth). But for the Lord Jesus truth is what matters, because as His Apostle also explained, love “does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth” (1 Corinthians 13:6). So love and truth do not contradict each other.

And this is not a matter of maturity in Christ. As soon as a person receives the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, he is a new creature and he refuses to worship idols like Roman Catholics do.

    You are in our prayers.

    Grace be with you!

  43. Brother Zeno Rakesh psJM says:

    Dear Disciple of Jesus Christ,

I am so sorry for NOT making myself clear that I am not among those Roman Catholics who do not agree with the official position of the Roman Catholic Church about many issues. Personally we may differ in our opinions but we always agree and abide by the official position of the Mother Church.

Now regarding superstitions, the Roman Catholic Church considers superstition to be sinful in the sense that it denotes a lack of trust in the divine providence of God and, as such, is a violation of the first of the Ten Commandments. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states superstition “in some sense represents a perverse excess of religion” (para. # 2110).
The Catechism attempts to dispel commonly held preconceptions or misunderstandings about Catholic doctrine relating to superstitious practices:
Superstition is a deviation of religious feeling and of the practices this feeling imposes. It can even affect the worship we offer the true God, e.g., when one attributes an importance in some way magical to certain practices otherwise lawful or necessary. To attribute the efficacy of prayers or of sacramental signs to their mere external performance, apart from the interior dispositions that they demand is to fall into superstition. Cf. Matthew 23:16–22 (para. #2111)

You may be very correct in your understandings about Jesus and the Holy Scriptures but I find you very ignorant about the Truth which the One, True, Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church holds and I say to you the same but for the Lord Jesus truth is what matters, because as His Apostle Paul also explained, love “does not rejoice in righteousness, but rejoices with the truth” (1 Corinthians 13:6).

    In HIS Service,

    Brother Zeno Rakesh psJM

  44. Dear Brother Zeno,

It seems that you misunderstood. I didn’t say that Roman Catholics consider those things mentioned in our article as superstitions. They approve of them and they do not consider them as superstitions. But as we both agreed, they ARE superstitions. So Roman Catholicism endorses superstitions while condemning them, which is of course hypocrisy. Now, I know that you think you agree with the official Roman Catholic position, but that’s because they are unclear on many issues and they deceive you concerning many issues. One of those issues is this case of their superstitions which they don’t call superstitions. We may see together many other cases if you wish.

The Roman Catholic organization does not preach the truth, but lies. If I am ignorant about those teachings of the Roman Catholics, then help me understand them, and let’s see how the Pope is wrong when he approves of such superstitions and you are right…

    Grace be with you!

    Dear Disciple of Jesus Chirst,

I feel so privileged to correspond with you because I find you so learned, so truthful and so committed.
But it deeply saddens me to find you yet so ignorant, so dishonest and so closed to your self-righteousness.
I cannot in any context agree with you regarding your understanding of the Roman Catholic Church. And if you think that the Roman Catholic Church is in error, be it so because our Lord loves us as we are, even in our weaknesses and our shortcomings.
Please be assured of our prayers.
God bless you and keep you safe from all dangers of mind, body and soul.
    Brother Zeno Rakesh psJM

  46. Dear Brother Zeno,

For Roman Catholics, declaring the truth as it is is self-righteousness. Don’t do like them. You already noticed that those things which they support like Marian worship and worship of Charbel are all superstitions, as you said that all what is written in our article was taught to you when you were young… I hope you will continue in your search for the truth, without judging those who tell you the truth as being self-righteous people. And yes, the Roman Catholic movement is in error. And yes, the Lord loves us, THEREFORE he calls us to repentance so that He may change us and bring us to the truth, so that we may not continue in sin and in the love of lies. So as soon as you realize how much those Roman Catholic teachings are wrong, please repent of them, don’t do them anymore, and obey the Lord instead.

    Grace be with you!

  47. Brother Zeno Rakesh psJM says:

    Dear Disciple of Jesus Christ,

Thank you so much for your concern but please leave us as we are. Allow God to be the judge over us.

    God be with you.

    Brother Zeno Rakesh psJM

  48. Dear Brother Zeno,

It’s you who said that the Roman Catholic Church may be in error, and that you have weaknesses and shortcomings. All what I did was to tell you what God says in this case: That He loves you and wants to save you from your sins so that you leave all what does not agree with His Will. This is not judging you.

    Grace be with you!

  49. Mary T says:

I just came across this article. Jesus said to some people “You believe in God, you do well.. but the devils believe,, and tremble”. Also, the people that pray to departed saints do not know if that person died and went to Heaven,, for all they know they are praying to someone in hell.. since they are basing their belief that the saint is in heaven based on good deeds, and we know that good deeds do not EVER earn one a place in Heaven.. It is only thru grace by faith in Jesus Christ and his blood that paid for our sins on Calvary that saves us. Not works!
Now, I have seen in my city where someone found a peculiar shaped oil slick on one of the posts that hold up the expressway for cars to drive across. There were vases of flowers as a tribute to this oil slick that someone saw their intepretation of a saint, or mary or jesus or something that appeard to make that picture.. But it looked pretty silly that someone was in reality dedicating flowers to an oil slick on a part of the expressway. People flock to these so called appearances, and they are all vain. We need to have our eyes on Jesus, not these other things.. as Jesus is sufficient as our Advocate, as our intercessor, not any other person, which actually is idolatry when you realize this. We dont need any other angel, departed saint, person, etc. to intercede for us, or to go to the Father. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by ME”.

  50. mandla says:

In any other circumstances if you speak of serpents talking to women or men being able to corner and overpower God(Jesus) and humiliate him and “kill” him, or God relying on the written word and communicating by words or God glorifying Himself in suffering , in any other circumstances you would be certified a lunatic or a childish ignoromus.

But we are here speaking of the choice superstition of the western world and its called a true religion Christianity. We can only marvel how this superstition has turned sane intelligent men into children. God is everything except what has been written here. The stigmata are a fraudulent concotion of a silly mind. They have no meaning, significance of relevance in any spiritual matters.

  51. Dear Mandla,

    Thank you for your comment.

Well, it depends of which circumstances you are talking. Because if you mean our faith in what God says, then that is not superstitious or silly at all. Believing in supernatural things revealed by God is not superstitious at all. But you talked about things that we don’t believe, claiming that Christians believe them, so it is clear that you have been told superstitions by people who misunderstood the Bible, and as a reaction to that you have invented your own superstition which is the impotent god that you talked about. Yes, you are superstitious, because you believe in a god who can’t do supernatural things and who is unable to reveal himself. You said “God is everything except what has been written here”… I wonder how you knew about this imaginary god… is it you who decide what God should be and how He should look like? Thus, you are superstitious. You are superstitious just like Roman Catholics, because you believe in lies and untrue things that are not revealed in God’s Word and that contradict God’s absolute truth.

Before I submit my comment, let me just note here that Christians do not believe in talking serpents (serpents can’t talk), and Christians don’t believe that humans cornered God and overpowered Him and killed Him, because God is Sovereign and Omnipotent, and Christians do not believe that God is dependent of some written words. All these are superstitious beliefs based on a wrong understanding of God’s Word. Roman Catholic superstitions and your superstitions are built on such misunderstandings. When one does not know the truth, he believes lies.

If you want to know the truth, then open the Bible and read it carefully and without pre-assumptions. And if you need any help in your search for the truth, we are here for you in Christ’s Name.

    Grace be with you!
    Disciple of Jesus Christ
