How to bless Mary

in the right manner?

As we have seen in our previous study, the author of the above mentioned article obscures the real meaning of the remnant of Israel and of the whole doctrine of Salvation by Grace alone, by replacing Jesus with Mary… Thus, Roman Catholics talk about a Mary who is not mentioned in the Bible, but a self-righteous Mary that would never represent the remnant of Israel. Please, read our previous study in this series to see the details about this subject.

Now, as Roman Catholics present a Mary who is not the true Mary of the Bible, so when the author talks about blessing Mary he is talking about a false blessing that only those who deny God’s Righteousness would give to Mary. Let’s go step by step so that things may be clarified.

The author of that article says that when Mary says that all generations will bless her, that reminds us of the promise to Abraham and to his people that whoever blessed him God would bless them… If this is not ignorance of what the Bible really says, then I wonder what it could be… Let’s read the promise made to Abraham:

“And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3)

One would ask: Are the Roman Catholics the ones to whom God gave the authority to interpret this passage according to their wishes? Or is it the Bible that should interpret itself? Has not the Bible interpreted this passage? Well, of course it did! The Bible explains to us how all people of the earth are blessed in Abraham… Is it by blessing Mary and by making her a goddess like the Roman Catholics do? Let’s see:

“The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “ALL THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU.”
So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.”
(Galatians 3:8-9)

As you can see, this has nothing to do with blessing Mary. Mary is to be blessed (literally, “blessed” means “happy”), because she has received the grace of becoming the mother of our Lord, as she believed the promise of God (cf. Luke 1:45). The blessing here mentioned to Abraham is about a blessing that will come on those who seek to have it in the same faith of Abraham. The Apostle Paul explains in Galatians 3:8-9 that this blessing comes on those who believe in Christ. So it’s not about blessing Mary at all… But, as usual, those who do not study the Bible well and interpret the Bible according to their imaginations, try to find Mary wherever the word “blessed” is mentioned…

Furthermore, the Scripture explains that this blessing is not specifically for Abraham, but for what he typified, i.e. Christ:

“and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth bless themselves, because thou hast hearkened to my voice.” (Genesis 22:18)

Who is this seed mentioned here? Let the Bible answer:

“Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ.” (Galatians 3:16)

So the seed is Christ, and all nations will be blessed in Christ. Those who bless Christ will be blessed, and those who curse Christ will be cursed. Thus the point is settled: This Roman Catholic is once again replacing Jesus Christ with Mary, thus making a solar eclipse(*)…

It shall be noted that the self-righteous always replace Jesus Christ with something or someone that belongs to them. For instance, the Jews thought that they are the seed of Abraham, and that people should bless the Jewish people in order to be blessed. The Muslims consider themselves the seed of Abraham. And Roman Catholics replace this seed with their version of Mary, and confuse the blessing of Mary with the blessing that should be given to the seed, that is, Christ… They all give the glory to humans, while the remnant shouts: Not unto us, O Jehovah, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy loving-kindness and for thy truth’s sake.” (Psalm 115:1)…

In the days of Jesus, a woman made the same error that the Roman Catholics do today. She tried to put the first seeds of Roman Catholicism when she suggested a worship of Mary. But Jesus discouraged her! Read with me:

“And it came to pass as he spake these things, a certain woman, lifting up her voice out of the crowd, said to him, Blessed is the womb that has borne thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep [it]. (Luke 11:27-28)

Does this in any way mean that Mary is not blessed?? Not at all. For Mary also is one of those who heard the Word of God and kept it. But this surely proves that Mary is not “more saint” than the other believers and that we should not bless her in the way Roman Catholics do (i.e. worship) in order to be blessed… This passage shows that Jesus is against such a blessing of Mary that puts her above the truth of God revealed in His Word. Whoever believes in Christ and does the Will of God by faith is blessed with Abraham the believer, as we have seen above.

As you can see, the pattern of error is clear in the Roman Catholic heresy:

1. They considered the Church Fathers infallible, thus they accepted their view that Mary represents the remnant of Israel, without even examining the Scripture to see whether or not what those Fathers thought was right. In fact, the Bible never says that Mary is a type of the remnant of Israel. The Bible says that Mary IS a part of that remnant (cf. Romans 11:1-5)! It is really strange that Roman Catholics boast of having retained from the Church Fathers those teachings that contradict the Bible… The Church Fathers contradicted each other in many instances, and they also taught some wrong things that even Roman Catholics do not believe today (ex.: one of them taught that we will be God, and another taught that the Son is inferior to the Father…) We should only retain from the Church Fathers all the teachings that agree with the Bible.

2. They thus considered Mary as a type of the heavenly Jerusalem, i.e. the remnant. The Bible says that in the New Covenant the essence came, and thus we don’t have a need for types anymore like it was in the Old Covenant (see Colossians 2:16-17). But Roman Catholics still want to be under the Old Covenant, and they invent new types that are not mentioned in the Bible. For instance, they have invented a new Mary as a type of the remnant of Israel, while the Apostle Paul made it clear that our mother is Jerusalem above (and not Mary), which had as an Old Covenant type Sarah (and once again not Mary)… To know more about this, please read our article Who is the mother of believers? Mary is part of this heavenly Jerusalem, and not a mere Old Testament type of it as the Roman Catholics misrepresent her…

3. They then passed to build on this conclusion (that Mary is a type of the remnant)… Thus they annulled the Old Testament types (Abraham and Sarah), and they replaced them with Mary… Then they passed to link the blessing of Abraham to a blessing of Mary, although the type pointed to Christ (and not to Mary), as we have seen above (cf. Colossians 2:16-17). Then they justified the worship of Mary under an excuse which is: “we’re just blessing her”… Indeed, to bless a creature, they burn incense before her statue, and they pray to her, and they even worship before her statues and before her pictures… Is all this just to tell her “you are blessed, for you received grace, a grace that you didn’t deserve, just as we all do not deserve the Grace of God”?… No, in fact they want to tell her: “You have deserved this grace, and we will deserve the graces of God just as you did”… This is what I meant when I said that they bless a self-righteous Mary, and not the true Mary. But an interesting question comes: Why don’t Roman Catholics tell Abraham the same blessing they tell to Mary? Is he not the type of the remnant whom they used as a justification and as a biblical “proof-text” (actually, a pretext) to worship Mary? Then why don’t they worship all of the types of this remnant in the same way they do with Mary?… Is it not because they can’t build a self-righteous system around those biblical types, and therefore they invented an extra-biblical type which is their Mary?…

This was an analysis of how a heresy is built…

Under the New Covenant we’re not following types anymore, but we have the essence. We don’t need to keep types in order to point to a coming essence, as if it didn’t come yet. Even the Book of Revelation, which is full of symbolic language, does not say that Mary is a type of the Jerusalem above, but on the contrary, by the fact that it uses the name “Jerusalem”, it tells us that the earthly Jerusalem was the type of the Jerusalem above, and not Mary.

Besides this, even the symbols that the New Testament uses are not made to be worshipped. For instance, the Roman Catholics justify the worship of Mary by making her a type of the remnant… Then what about the lamb which is made in the New Testament the symbol of Christ? Should we worship lambs today, and tell them “you are our Savior”, just because they have been used in the Bible as symbol of Christ the Savior?… The author of the article which we are studying justifies a wrong kind of blessing to Mary by saying that when we bless her we are blessing the holy remnant… With the same wrong logic, it would be right to worship lambs, as they represent Christ… In addition to this, as we saw above, as the author of that article says that the blessing to Abraham is the blessing to the holy remnant, then why not worship Abraham the way they worship Mary?… Why not also worship the remnant itself??! Indeed, Jesus said that “blessed” to the blessed remnant of Israel:

Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. Blessed they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed the merciful, for they shall find mercy. Blessed the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed the peace-makers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed they who are persecuted on account of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. Blessed are ye when they may reproach and persecute you, and say every wicked thing against you, lying, for my sake. Rejoice and exult, for your reward is great in the heavens; for thus have they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:3-12)

So I wonder why the Roman Catholics do not worship us, the Christians, we who are called here “blessed” by Jesus Himself… Why don’t they burn incense before our pictures and they do not fall on our feet when they meet us?… Doesn’t this “blessed” remind the Roman Catholics of the “blessed” said to Abraham in the same way that it does with the “blessed” addressed to Mary?… Is it only with Mary that this “blessed” is linked to anything, even if it doesn’t have any relation with it?… Note that the “blessed” in the above text is directly related to the remnant of Israel… So while Roman Catholics link the blessing of Abraham to Mary (which is irrelevant), they do not link it to such passages that are relevant…

Roman Catholics should understand that Mary is not a type, but she’s a reality: she’s the mother of our Lord, i.e. she’s the mother of Jesus in flesh, because she believed Him who promised (see Luke 1:45). What greater blessing could a woman have??! By making her just a type of the remnant, you turn her to an Old Testament false type, and thus you disrespect her. Thus, Roman Catholics, in a trial to insert their Mary into the Bible, they have disrespected the real biblical Mary…

In the figure of their false Mary, Roman Catholics bless the self-righteous section of Israel, and they boast of being the children of Abraham. As we have seen in our previous study, the Roman Catholic Mary can only represent the self-righteous Israel that refused the Righteousness of God; this self-righteous section is NOT the remnant of Israel, as we have seen. We bless Mary in the right way when we understand and value the virgin birth as we have seen in our previous study, because the virgin Mary is happy (blessed) when we hear the Word of God and keep it and we understand with her that she’s completely covered with “leprosy” (see our previous study to understand this) and that we are exactly like her, completely covered with “leprosy”, and thus she is pure and we can be pure in the same way. So it is hypocrite to bless Mary with our mouths while disobeying the Word of God, as Roman Catholics do. Mary’s wish, just like all true believers’ wish, is to see JESUS CHRIST at the center of devotion, and not anyone else, not even Mary.

Grace be with you!

The article made me laugh when it mentioned let them put our pictures and woship us – and at the sametime it’s so pitiful.
Luke 11:27-28 so clearly states our object of worship; in addition to the often neglected verses- Colosians 2:16-17.

God bless you JD, especially for publishing this article in this month of August.
